Your contribution to something big

As an Oracle Database Administrator this is where you could come in. You will be expected to be assisting with administrating of the data resources through the use of Relational Database Management Systems and/or other DMBS tools. You will interact with staff to ensure data integrity and security, eliminate redundancy and improve database performance. You will be responsible for establishing and supporting database backup and recovery procedures, as well as migrating the databases to newer versions.

 

What you'll be doing 

  • Administrate Oracle 12c
  • Coordinate with System Administrators and configure servers for DBMS product installation and database creation
  • Implement monitoring procedures to maximise availability and performance of the databases
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database problems
  • Optimise queries, build/update indexes & statistics
  • Create users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need
  • Work closely with application support and development specialists to implement changes and ensure reliability, quality and scalability
  • Identify, define and implement database backup/recovery and security strategies
  • Collaborate and participate in application release planning and implementation
  • Resolve complex incidents (e.g. security, performance tuning)
  • Perform various database activities which include monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Managing, investigating, resolving and / or escalating pre-and post-implementation issues via our ticketing systems
  • Carrying out other ad hoc duties as required
  • Helping with systems administration as required to ensure the smooth operation of all systems with 100% uptime
  • Carrying out other ad hoc duties as required

  

Our ideal teammate has experience with/knowledge in

  • Setting up and migrating Oracle databases (from/to 9i, 11g, 12c) — preferably on Linux-based systems
  • Administrating Oracle databases (e.g. optimising queries, building/updating indexes, statistics, working with PL/SQL) and supporting critical production environments
  • Monitoring (and automated monitoring) of Oracle databases, Oracle 13c Cloud Control
  • Administration and configuration of DataGuard

You will get brownie points for

  • Experience with PostgreSQL & NoSQL databases
  • Linux experience
  • Basic understanding of APIs and Rest-based applications, shell scripting, JIRA, Confluence, Office 365
  • An IT related degree qualification
  • An understanding of premium finance
  • Previous experience working in a SaaS environment
